A career in nursing is interesting, rewarding and challenging. Nurses work in every health setting from accident and emergency to working in patients’ homes, with people of all ages and backgrounds. Although traditionally nurses cared for sick patients, that is now only one of the many exciting roles. Nurses are a crucial part of the healthcare team. In fact, they are the largest group of staff in the any hospital.

  • Promote normality in pregnancy and childbirth.
  • Recognise and respond to emergency situations.

  • Undertake research to improve midwifery care and outcomes for women and babies.

Midwifery is about partnership – with women and with families – and this is reflected in our course. We work in partnership with students and we are looking for individuals who are prepared to commit time, energy and enthusiasm to becoming midwives.

Paramedics are typically utilized as emergency care practitioners on ambulances or on first response emergency vehicles but their scope is rapidly expanding to many other areas. Some of these include industry, elementary and high schools, colleges, hospitals, doctor’s offices. More challenging and higher paid positions include working in specialty areas such as cruise ship medical departments, off shore oil drilling platforms, helicopter or fixed wing medical transport and hyperbaric oxygen chambers. Often they are the sole or highest trained medical provider in these areas.
